After walking in the door at Golden Veterinary Care Clinic, I was warmly greeted by the receptionist Jodi Ladd. The lobby was warm, inviting, well decorated, and personalized with items such as their mission statement and a board with the names of pets coming in for an appointment that day. There was also a sign indicating their clinic was awarded “Minnesota’s Best” 2021 Gold Winner by the Star Tribune. I learned they won this award based on a nomination and then receiving the most votes. What a huge accomplishment given that they just opened their doors on March 9th, 2020.
Golden Veterinary Care is an exclusive small animal practice that also offers acupuncture, chiropractic, and laser therapy. All of their veterinarians and support team members have received Fear Free® certification. Their exam rooms are unique in that not only are there cat toys, dog beds, scratching posts, and treats, but the doors opening to the exam rooms are see-through glass. Danielle, one of the CVTs, explained that they like clients and pets to not feel “closed in”. Also, most of the treatments are done in the exam room versus the treatment room. Dr. Sharon Golden is the founder and owner of Golden Veterinary Care. She brings 30 years of practice experience to the clinic, as well as her compassionate approach to care. Sharon believes in providing a serene, safe, informative, and collaborative veterinary care experience. Besides Sharon working full-time, there are 2 other DVM’s: Dr. Lee Bull who does occasional relief work, and Dr. Sarah Lochner who works part-time. Support staff at the clinic includes two CVT’s (Danielle Massie and Karen Jensen), one VT (Kate Hill), two Veterinary Assistants (Kristin McClanahan and Emilie Bell), and a Care Coordinator (MJ Joerger).
